Solàger is a company specialized in the development of distributed and environmentally friendly solar projects in Catalonia. Our model rethinks traditional photovoltaic concepts: we focus on small-scale projects and avoid large solar parks, blending solar energy with rural environments. We handle the entire process, from feasibility studies to the RTB (Ready To Build) license, providing transparency and minimal risk to investors and farmers.
We offer three service lines to create clean and efficient energy solutions. Agrovoltaic projects are aimed at farmers who want to combine food and energy production, making sustainable use of their land and increasing the profitability of their operations. Sustainable photovoltaics are designed for investors or landowners seeking installations integrated into the landscape, minimizing environmental impact and maximizing energy efficiency. Energy storage is essential for investors, utilities, grid operators, and landowners, as it allows storing renewable energy, provides flexibility and stability, and optimizes electricity management.
Agrivoltaics offers a model of dual profitability for land, allowing the production of food and the generation of solar energy at the same time. The farmer gains an additional and stable source of income from the generation and sale of clean electricity, while the land remains active and productive. Additionally, on a technical level, the partial shading of the panels (optimized through shadow studies) creates a microclimate that reduces water consumption for irrigation and protects crops, minimizing losses and significantly increasing the economic value of the combined operation.
We use bifacial photovoltaic modules mounted on single-axis horizontal tracking structures, oriented North-South. This setup includes a minimum spacing between trackers (pitch) of 10 meters. The spacing and height have been optimized through shadow studies to allow agricultural machinery to pass and ensure that crops receive more than 60% of sunlight. This configuration serves as a baseline but is always adjusted according to the type of crop to maximize both agronomic and energy yield.
Both models share the goal of protecting the land, but they approach it differently. Sustainable photovoltaics generally aim to design installations that minimize visual impact and include measures to protect local flora and fauna. Agrivoltaics, however, is more specific: beyond environmental respect, it physically integrates energy generation with agricultural activity. In this model, the perimeter fencing not only protects the installation but also actively safeguards crops against pests such as wild boars or rabbits.
We develop energy storage solutions that can be either standalone battery fields (for investors and energy traders) or systems integrated into solar projects. These systems are essential for project flexibility and profitability, as they stabilize the electrical system and allow real-time balancing of generation and demand. This enables the project to provide grid flexibility services, reduce congestion at connection points, and ultimately increase the return on investment for our clients.
Our team combines extensive technical experience with deep knowledge of the local territory and regulatory framework in Catalonia. We manage the entire process end-to-end, including land acquisition, urban feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and grid evacuation capacity. This thorough management continues through obtaining the solar field permit, at which point the project is considered Ready To Build (RTB), minimizing risk for the client.
